GOLFERS swung into action to raise some cash for Worcestershire's Help for Heroes with fundraising events throughout the last year.

The seniors section captain, Brian Coleman, at the Vale Golf & Country Club in Bishampton presented the cheque for £1,345 to the Worcestershire Help for Heroes County coordinator, Ian Baldry.

This sum of money was raised by the seniors section during Mr Coleman's tenure as Captain through fund raising events and raffles.

Mr Baldry, in response to receiving the cheque gave an impassioned update on the work of Help for Heroes and thanked the attending 70 Seniors members for their splendid efforts in having raised this considerable sum of money.

Besides informing the golfers on how the donated money will be utilised Mr Baldry also gave a special thanks for the outstanding support Mr Coleman has provided locally for Help for Heroes during the last six years.

As the H4H local volunteer for Charlton he was also recently presented with the Help for Heroes Over and Above Award making him one of only six recipients in Worcestershire to have received this award.

This is the third year in which The Vale Golf Club Seniors have designated Help for Heroes as their chosen charity resulting in total donations of more than £4,000 all together.
