ENTERPRISING children from a Vale first school got busy in the kitchen to bake a range of goodies for a Fairtrade Cafe.

The youngsters from years 4 and 5 of Pebworth First School spent the morning of Thursday, March 13, cooking and decorating cakes using Fairtrade ingredients before selling them to parents in the afternoon.

They went to Blackminster Middle School, part of a federation with Pebworth First School, and made good use of new cooking equipment in the food technology room.

Working in pairs the children used a range of skills to bake various tray bakes and cookies, which they then decorated back at school.

The cafe was later set up in the school hall and the budding chefs raised a total of £36 for the Fairtrade Foundation.
