SCENES reminiscent of the film Charlie the Chocolate Factory are being recreated on stage in a special musical performed by Vale school children.
About 85 youngsters in Years 3,4, and 5 at Sedgeberrow CofE First School Main Street, Evesham, have been busy rehearsing The Candy Man over the last five weeks.
The sell-show is being performed today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) at Pershore's 250-seater
Number 8 theatre.
The musical, based on the popular story by Roald Dahl, has a mixture of old and modern songs including Katy Perry's 'Roar', Robbie Williams' 'Let me Entertain You' and title song 'The Candy Man'.
Youngsters have been involved in the production every step of the way with some coming up with the dances while others are helping with back stage and organisation.
Year 5 teacher Tom Oldstock, who is part of the Key Stage 2 team organising the production, said: "It's been incredibly popular. The children have just worked so hard.
"It's so nice to see them performing it on the stage now. We're very proud of them all. They are absolutely amazing."
This is the second year running the school has held a production at the theatre.
Last year, youngsters took part in 'I'm a Believer', based on the film Shrek.
Mr Oldstock said performing in a proper venue made a big difference to the children's experience.
"It makes a big difference and adds to the excitement," he added. "It's been great, they've looked after us well at Number 8."
