A YOUNG tattooist who has been honing his art at an Evesham shop has been nominated for a national award as the best newcomer of the year.
Chris Hallam, aged 31, has been working at Full On Ink, in Port Street, since November 2012 and developing his skills.
Before that the tattooist, who is from Cheltenham, worked for free at a number of studios in order to learn all about hygiene and how a tattoo studio is run successfully.
In this time, he also found getting tattooed himself and attending conventions across the country helpful in order to talk to other artists and see how they work.
Now he has been nominated as the Best Newcomer in the Tattoo Industry Awards.
He said: "I mostly enjoy tattooing lady faces in my traditional style, but generally bold, colourful old school tattoos are what I’m interested in doing.
"One of the most memorable tattoos I’ve probably done was that of Joey Tribiani from the scene in Friends in which he wears the thanksgiving turkey on his head, with his infamous pick-up line underneath “How you doin’?"
The awards take place at the Liverpool Tattoo Convention across the weekend of May 17 and 18 and voting closes on May 1.
