A VALE dad is getting ready to ride from Evesham to Land's End to raise money for two charities very close to his heart.

Peter Gordon, of Avon Street, Evesham, decided to jump on the back of a Raleigh Shopper and ride to Land's End this July and raise some cash for the Cancer Research UK Relay for Life and the Acquired Brain Injury Unit in the town.

The 42-year-old, who is part of the Spitfire Shammers Relay for Life team, wanted to support this cause but also hopes to back the ABI unit after suffering a brain haemorrhage seven years ago.

And the challenge comes shortly after the birth of Mr Gordon's daughter Elsie, who was born against all odds after suffering a rare condition.

He said: "I am going to cycle from Evesham to Land's End on a Raleigh Shopper. It's 250 miles and will take me about a week. I am going to do that in July but I need to start getting sponsors now.

"Because of the haemorrhage my one side is quite weak so that's why I am giving myself a week."
