HOMES in a Vale village have been connected to the public sewer system for the first time after an investment of almost £700,000 by Severn Trent Water.

A number of properties on Wadborough Road in Littleworth, have benefitted from the changes, which should help to reduce the risk of pollution and remove the hassle of maintaining septic tanks or other alternatives.

The improvements will be carried out together with Severn Trent Water’s contract partners NMCNomenca.

Chris Kelsey, from Severn Trent, explained the benefits of the project.

He said: "In total, we’ve installed 435 metres of new sewers and a new sewage pumping station so that the people of Wadborough Road can benefit from being connected to the public sewer.

"This is great news for our customers as it means they'll no longer have the responsibility of maintaining and emptying septic tanks or other alternatives.

"We carried out the work, which will help protect the local environment from pollution after the local residents applied to be connected to the sewers.

"We’d like to thank the local residents for their patience while work was carried out and hope their new sewer system will help to make their environment cleaner, and their lives easier."
