GUIDED walking tours of Malvern, conducted by volunteers from the town's civic society, have started up again for the spring season.

From now until the end of September, the walks take in a range of sights connected with the town’s heritage.

Denise Preston of the civic society said: "We focus particularly on the Victorian water cure period, which put Malvern on the map, but also include a number of other interesting topics as well as famous people who have lived here or visited, such as Elgar, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens and Florence Nightingale."

The walks start at the Tourist Information Centre at the top of the Church Street, at 10.30am on Saturdays and Sundays and take about 90 minutes, with no steep climbs.

Normally it costs £3 to join a walk, or 50p for children, but on Saturday, May 17 only, the walk will be free to Civic Society members. Places can be booked at the TIC in advance.
