AFRICA will be home to a group of teachers and students fromPershore and Pinvin for the next few weeks as they visit the country as part of an ongoing partnership with the Zambian town of Ndola.

The latest exchange trip to Zambia set off on Friday, April 4, and sees two Pershore teachers, seven sixth form student and two teachers from St Nicholas Middle School in Pinvin jet off.

The trip is part of the Pershore Ndola Link, which sees the two schools, along with Inkberrow First School, work to fundraise for schools in Ndola and other important projects.

Since the link was established visits have taken place to and from Zambia with local families welcoming visitors into their homes for one or two nights.

This time round Robert Segar and Kate Hayward from Pershore High School and Matt Modley and Andy Furber of St Nicholas Middle School will be working with the sixth form students to deliver workshops they have planned to deliver at GoodNews, Kansenshi and Lubuto Secondary School.

Their workshops will be linked with the Global Citizenship themes outlined by the British Council.

They have also been tasked with ensuring the generator, partly funded by donations from the UK, is now working after issues with the compatibility of the new equipment.

Later this summer Pershore students will repay the hospitality when they welcome the Zambian partners from last year’s trip, making an exchange visit to the UK.
