PERSHORE is to get a development for businesses on land next to Wyre Road after the plans were given the thumbs up.
Five hectares of land has been earmarked as employment land to the north of the town, where hundreds of new homes are also set to be built.
Councillor Charles Tucker said he felt the application should be supported as developers would have to contribute to the improvement of the local infrastructure and in turn this would support a campaign to build a new Northern Link Road and bridge over the railway.
"I think there's no alternative but to agree to this today," he said. "It's clearly a strategic development fore industrial use within the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
"The importance of all developments in this area is to enable the delivery of the Northern Link Road."
Wychavon District Council's planning committee unanimously approved the plans.
