A NEW triptych will be hung as an alter piece in Worcester Cathedral.

The painting by Malvern artist Nigel Groom, entitled I am alive for ever, depicts the resurrected Christ as living lord of all creation and it will be on display in the Chapel of Prayer from Saturday, April 12 to Thursday, May 29.

It is a single work on three large panels and it is the third of three triptychs by Mr Groom which have being displayed in the chapel.

Mr Groom said: “Underlying all my paintings in recent years has been the intention of creating images that can draw people into prayer and contemplation.

"I am delighted that this triptych is being displayed in the magnificent setting of Worcester Cathedral at this very special time of year when our minds are drawn to the new life, hope and the joy of Eastertide.”

The Very Reverend Peter Atkinson, Dean of Worcester, said: “Once again, we are very pleased to be able to exhibit Nigel Groom’s work in the Chapel of Prayer. A focus of attention and contemplation for those who pray, and those who pause on their way.”
