TWO theatre companies tasted success at a regional awards ceremony.

Both Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society and the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich emerged victorious at the West Midlands regional conference of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association's awards.

The Worcester group's staging of Anything Goes - which was held at the Swan Theatre in October last year - was awarded the Best Musical Award for 2013 in the district at a packed Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on Sunday, April 6.

Norbury Theatre's production of Boeing Boeing was nominated in the drama section, while its 2013 pantomime performance of Jack and the Beanstalk won the Best Pantomime Award in the district.

Both were directed by the theatre's Mike Matthews.

The National Operatic and Dramatic Association supports the education and information needs of individuals and organisations with high quality services and products that contribute to the success of amateur theatre.

It also encourages the appreciation of the sector by participants and audiences alike.
