A KIND-hearted Vale volunteer has described his charity work as ‘happily hectic’ after the team he represents was recognised with a national award.
Tony Coletta, of Charlton, is often seen volunteering at local events for Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE).
Last year, the charity took the title of Animal Charity Team of the Year at the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes’ award ceremony, organised by Petplan.
“Life is always interesting as a charity volunteer” said Mr Coletta. “But recent times have been busy and exciting.
“We won the award because of the quality of GRWE’s dog rehoming work. Following the award, 2014 has so far been happily hectic for our Hereford and Worcester region team.”
The charity, which has just one paid employee, rehomed 516 greyhounds and lurchers last year with rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming being carried out by volunteers.
