EVESHAM'S Mayor got behind the mic to show his support for the town's Talking Newspaper and its new equipment bought by the organisation after it received a grant from the town council.

The group were delighted to get the donation of £1,000 from the New Homes Bonus, which is received by the town council in relation to the number of houses being built in the area, and have spent it transferring their equipment from analogue to digital.

Peter Wisbey, chairman of the organisation, said: "This donation has happened during Mark's mayoral year so we wanted him here when it was unveiled and it's the first time we have had a mayor reading for us.

"The donation has allowed us to move away from analogue desk to a digital mixing desk, which brings us more into modern times. It's a very simple piece of equipment.

"It's important to us to move forward as it helps us to reach more listeners."

The Talking Newspaper is always interested in hearing from people that could become a technician.
