AN event in support of families with children living with a disability or learning difficulty is being held to help them make the best choices when it comes to where they go after school.

Worcestershire County Council's Young Adults Team is supporting the event, Life Beyond School, which is taking place on Thursday, May 15, at Regency High School, Windermere Drive, Warndon, Worcester, from 2pm to 6pm.

The events are being run by local special school and will be attended by a broad range of local training providers, support networks, employers, colleges and voluntary services.

Councillor Liz Eyre, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for children and families, said: "When young people are due to leave school and decide on their future options, this can be a difficult time for them and their families or carers, especially when they have disabilities or learning disabilities.

"That is why we are supporting these events which will provide a wealth of useful information for parents and carers so they can decide on the best future possible for young people as they prepare to leave school.

"These events also provide an opportunity for people providing such services to showcase what they offer and also for carers and parents to drop in and find out more."
