THE winning design of this year's Pershore Carnival brochure cover has been revealed.

Nine-year-old Katie Shepherd was named as the winner of the competition, launched on Saturday, April 12, at Pershore Library.

The programme cover shows a drawing by Katie, who is a pupil at Abbey Park Middle School, following the carnival theme of heroes and villains, and advertises the date of the event, Monday, May 26.

The winner was chosen by staff at Pershore Information Centre and Pershore Mayor Charles Tucker on Thursday , April 17.

Two runners up were also named as five-year-old Frankee Camden, a pupil at Cherry Orchard First School, and Pinvin First School pupil, eight-year-old Summer Corfield.

Pershore Carnival Committee has also been celebrating after the event received a grant from the lottery of £6,850 towards the event, free live music in the evening and the firework display.

The main procession will leave Pershore Town Football Club at 1pm and the evening concert and fireworks display will begin at 6.30pm with half hour performances starting with Rock Band Prism, then at 7pm musical songstress Charlii Harrington takes to the stage, followed by Garry Allcock Big Band, Elvis Tribute Act - Andy Kelso, Garry Alcock Big Band again and ending with the firework display.
