YOUNGSTERS at a Vale school raised hundreds of pounds for local charities at its annual fundraising event.
St Egwin's C of E Middle School, in Aston Somerville, hosted the event, which was delivered by 30 pupils in Year 8, currently completing their Community-based ASDAN Youth Challenge Award.
They made more than £600 for their chosen charities, Caring Hands in Evesham, The Cat’s Protection Trust in Wickhamford and Sue Ryder, Evesham, as their way of thanking each organisation for taking Youth Challengers on placement.
Amanda Capewell, community education co-ordinator, said: "The event was tremendous fun with 14 members of staff offering to face their phobias for charity.
"I was delighted our marvellous Mayor gamely volunteered himself as a willing victim when he partook of the most memorable sandwich ever –marmite, custard and rice pudding with headteacher Carol Kennedy."
