ALL the latest crime fighting gadgets will be on show at a beefed-up drop-in event designed to make Worcester safer.

Organiser Graham Houghton of West Side Neighbourhood Watch says the event will now showcase even more of the latest ways to protect residents and businesses from criminals.

The session takes place at St John's Youth and Community Centre, Swanpool Walk, St John's, Worcester between 10am and 4pm on Friday, May 16. Visitors have the chance to see personal alarms for mobile phones and technology for them to track their phones, including a GPS time stamp and the ability to work out the location of the phone.

Rob Simpson of StranDNA will also be demonstrating a forensic burglary deterrent to visitors. The alarms themselves will be on offer at a reduced price for those attending.

There will also be a fire marshal course between 10am and 1pm, aimed at employees nominated as fire marshals or wardens who have responsibility for implementing the company's fire evacuation procedure. This costs £50 for a certificate and £5 for a non certificate version of the course. Advice includes practical use of fire extinguishers, fire regulations and information about how fire spreads.

NHS health trainers will be offering free health MOTs and representatives from patient champions Healthwatch Worcestershire will also be present. For more information call Mr Houghton on 01905 425382 or email grahamwhoughton@sky.com
