Animal charity needs your help to rehome cats

PET lovers are being urged to help a Worcestershire animal charity as it deals with a 'cat crisis'.

The RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch has been inundated with cats this year, so much so that cats are at vets waiting to be taken in by the branch.

And the charity is holding a rehoming day this weekend in a bid to find loving new owners for a variety of cats.

Geraldine Haynes, of the branch, said: "We are absolutely snowed under with cats at the moment, so we need permanent loving homes for them.

"The private cattery we use is full to bursting point and there are other cats at the vets waiting to come in. We cannot take in any more until we have found homes for those already in our care."

Jasmine is one of the many lovely cats in the branch's care. She is between six and 12 months old, short haired, black, very friendly and affectionate. She is very sweet , beautiful and came to the branch as a stray.

Humbug is a lovely black and white boy aged three. He came to the branch as a stray, very poorly, extremely cold, suffering from fleas and big fur loss. Some of the fur loss was due to him pulling it out due to stress.

He is now doing well after lots of veterinary attention and TLC. All Humbug needs now is a loving family to adopt him.

The cat rehoming day is this Sunday, May 18, at Teme Acre Cattery, Old Road, Old Powick Bridge, St John's, Worcester WR2 4BU from 11.30am to 2pm, when you can meet the cats seeking their forever homes.

All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Many of them can be seen on the branch's website at http://www.rspca-worcester.co.uk/
