A CHARITY supporting people with diabetes is calling on people in Worcestershire and throughout the Midlands to chip in with a week a fundraising.

Diabetes UK has arranged a number of events as part of this year’s Diabetes Week, which starts on Sunday, June 8.

Events include collections at Tesco shops throughout the region and sponsored walks at Walsall Arboretum and Wollaton Park in Nottingham on Sunday, June 8.

The charity is also encouraging anyone who is not able to get to Wallsall or Nottingham to arrange their own walks to help raise money to pay for research and support for the 3.8 million people in the UK with diabetes.

Regional manager for Diabetes UK in the Midlands Pete Shorrick said: “We look forward to welcoming people from across the Midlands to our events and others being organised by our local groups and healthcare professionals.

“The money that we raise during Diabetes Week helps us continue with our work as the leading UK charity for people with diabetes.

“Diabetes UK helps people manage their diabetes effectively by providing information, advice and support.

“We campaign to improve the quality of care across the UK’s health services and we fund pioneering research into care, cure and prevention of all types of diabetes.”
