WEDDING dresses and World War One memorabilia will be on display at All Saints Church in Evesham in aid of the Bell Tower Appeal later this summer.

As part of its programme of events the Bell Tower Appeal Committee, which needs to raise £500,000 to repair and conserve the 16th century iconic building, is putting on a range of displays for three days, fromFriday, August 15, to Sunday, August 17.

But the event, being organised by local stalwarts Pippa Hodges and Joyce Doyle, requires some more dresses to be part of the display.

Sue Ablett, chairman of the appeal committee, said: "We need to borrow wedding dresses, and mannequins to display them on.

"We already have three dresses, from the 1960s, 80s and 90s, but the hope is to have ten to 12 altogether.

"What we would love to have is a range of dresses from the First World War, 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s.

"The display will be manned at all times when the Church is open."

This event coincides with plans for a Family Day in the park, being organised by Emma Haynes.

Dr Ablett added: "We are also hoping to build on the Family Day by inviting teddy bears along for a picnic and, all being well, some other much more exciting teddy activities."
