PLANS to revive Evesham's Carnival will be discussed at a meeting being held in the town this Thursday evening.

The call for the event to be re-introduced in the town comes six years after the last biennial carnival was held, back in 2008.

The meeting has been arranged by Emma Haynes, who is also behind the Photos and Memories of days past in Evesham Facebook group, which stirred many happy recollections of the former carnival events in the town.

She said they are also hoping to get support from Evesham Round Table.

"I think people have been to the Pershore Carnival and that has started the want for an Evesham Carnival," she said. "I think people miss it. I remember it but I don't ever remember taking my own kids there.

"The Evesham Round Table have been talking about it as well so we are hoping to get in contact with them also. Now there is a lot of interest in the town and people are making their views clear that they want a carnival.

"If anyone can help I hope they come along to the meeting."

Anyone who would like to get involved in bringing the carnival back to Evesham can attend the meeting at 6.30pm at Hampton Ferry.
