A HOUSE builder is celebrating this week after winning an appeal to build 49 new homes in Tewkesbury.

The decision to give Charles Church consent to build on the seven acre parcel of land off South Beckford Road in Alderton was made by Tewkesbury Borough Council’s planning committee on Thursday, May 22.

The planning application on the former agricultural land was approved after inspectors deemed that any possible negative impact which the development might have on the area would be outweighed by the benefits.

Andy Peters, managing director at Charles Church South Midlands, said: "We welcome the council’s decision to uphold our planning appeal and remain committed to building high quality homes in sought-after locations."

In addition to the new homes, Charles Church will provide more than £100,000 to fund local facilities including sports pitches, schools, library and play area improvements.
