GET ready to have your senses stimulated by a fun and thought-provoking exhibition.

Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum welcomes Sensational Clay fromJon Williams of Eastnor, near Ledbury, to the Foregate Street from Saturday, June 14 to Saturday, November 1.

The ceramics from the Flying Potter have all been inspired by the five senses and all have a secret to discover, from tiny hand-held items to huge one-metre wide pots.

Visitors are encouraged to get hands-on and explore the pieces to find out more – lift lids to discover hidden treasures, shake the musical pots to make some noise or try to guess the smell coming from the scented vessels.

Angie Bishop, manager of Worcester Art Gallery and Museum, said: "This summer brings bumper fun for families at the Art Gallery & Museum as we have not one but two family-friendly exhibitions this year! Our Summer of Fun starts this Saturday with Sensational Clay, then we unveil our fabulous costume collection in Fancy Pants which opens on 12 July.

"We hope visitors will enjoy Sensational Clay – it's not very often you get to shake, rattle and sniff the exhibits."

Saturday, July 19 is Sensational Clay Day, when children and adults can join Jon for a fun day with clay as he helps visitors to create beautiful clay objects either by hand or mastering the potter's wheel.

It runs from 11am to 4pm and costs £15 for children and £20 for adults, including lunch.

Children can then create a magical castle from scraptastic materials and clay on Thursday, July 31 and on Tuesday, August 12 they can make a mini monster world from clay and collage materials.

Both workshops run from 11am to 1pm, are suitable for ages 5-12, and cost £4.50 per child.

The art gallery and museum is open Monday to Saturday, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
