WORCESTER City are continuing to strengthen their profile in their home city despite being in exile at Kidderminster Harriers.

The Blue and Whites are preparing for their second season at Aggborough following the closure, and subsequent demolition, of St George’s Lane.

Not having a base in Worcester left the club fearing that they would lose touch with supporters and see attendances dwindle. That, however, did not prove to be the case as crowds remained healthy with around 500 regularly making the trip across the county.

Now the challenge is maintaining those numbers and season ticket sales have already crashed through the 200-barrier.

The Skrill North club have also secured a fifth venue in Worcester for fans to buy season tickets ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

The tourist information centre at the Guildhall joins Knowles Sports, Plough Inn, Newtown Post Office and Nutz4Sportz in acting as agents for the club.

Ironically, such partnerships were few and far between when City were playing at St George’s Lane.

Director Mike Davis believes it can only be a good thing for the club as they strive to bank much-needed funds.

He said: “This is the first time the club have had such a strong presence in the city centre.

“It shows the club’s determination not to let our exile restrict us any more than is absolutely unavoidable.

"Carl Heeley and Matt Gardiner are assembling a strong squad for the start of the new season. Successful season ticket sales are the key to this.”

Meanwhile, the club’s under 13s team are looking for a new goalkeeper.

City have gained FA charter standard development status as they continue their aim of developing players through the age groups.

Any keeper interested in joining the under 13s can contact manager Grant Ratibb on 07588-100077.
