PAPER disks will no longer need to be on display in a vehicle as they are being scrapped from October this year.

As from October 1 drivers will no longer receive a paper disk when taxing their vehicle.

But the DVLA is keen to remind drivers they must still tax their vehicle.

Another change that will be introduced from the beginning of November is the option to pay the tax in instalments.

For vehicle tax starting from November 1, motorists will be able to pay vehicle tax by direct debit annually, biannually or monthly.

There will be no additional handling fees for annual payments but there will be a charge of 5 per cent of vehicle tax for biannual and monthly payments.

This is half the 10 per cent surcharge currently applied to six monthly tax discs.
