BISHAMPTON villagers raised about £800 at the annual Open Gardens event on Sunday, June 22.

Nearly 120 visitors visited Bishampton to see what it's gardens had to offer and organisers say they were not disappointed.

Pete Chamberlain, chairman of the Bishampton and District Gardening Club, said: "I would like to thank all the garden owners and volunteers who made this possible, as well of course as the visitors, some of whom came from quite a distance.

"In total we have calculated we should have made in the region of £800 on the day."

The majority of the proceeds from the event will go towards supporting West Midlands Air Ambulance and Acorns Hospice.

The next event for the group is on Wednesday, July 2, with a talk on soil pH from retired horticulturalist Richard Baldwin at the Villages Hall, 7.30pm.

The club is also asking people to get snapping, baking, crafting and growing in time for the annual Summer Show on Saturday, August 16.
