ADOPTIVE parents in Worcestershire are being invited to find out about the support on offer to them at an informal event next month.

The event at Worcester’s County Hall organised by the county council’s Post Order Support Team will run from 10am until 1pm on Saturday, July 5.

While parents can learn more about the specialist services on offer, children can have a go at a range of fun activities including circus skills.

Representatives from a range of agencies will be on hand including consultant clinical psychologist and author Dr Kim Golding, who was influential in setting up the Integrated Service for Looked After and Adopted Children (ISL), a multi-agency service offering support for parents, schools and professionals.

The council’s cabinet member with responsibility for children and families Cllr Liz Eyre said: "Some adopters may be reluctant to come forward for help or advice until there is a crisis.

“But we are eager to help at an early point when it can make a real difference."

Manager of the Post Order Support Team Jonathan Dudley said: "This informal event is a way of us reaching out to parents to offer them the support and guidance they may need now or in the future.

“We want adopters to feel that we are here to help them, whatever their needs.”
