EVESHAM'S Riverside Steam and Vintage Rally rolled into and around the town this weekend much to the delight of vehicle fanatics in the Vale.

The annual event took place on the Crown Meadow, where it was traditionally held, for the second time since the rally was brought back three years ago and was in support of the town's Abbey Bell Tower Appeal.

A huge range of vintage cars, steam engines and miniature engines turned up to go on show and even took part in a drive around Evesham on Saturday evening.

Organiser Dave Wothers said: "We got a good collection of exhibitors at the weekend. They loved it and loved the park as well. There was a good selection of vintage cars, six full sized steam engines and 15 miniature engines.

"We did a drive around which was great. We were raising money for the Bell Tower and we made around £550. We had a good show but we didn't get the numbers through the gates as we had hoped.

"I guess it takes time to grow and get well established, we hope next year to see more people there."
