THE Dormy House Hotel near Broadway is celebrating after one of its restaurants won a prestigious award.

Jon Ingram’s Garden Room has been named Hotel Restaurant of the Year beating off highly rated establishments in the 2014 Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards.

But despite this accolade the head chef is promising more to come.

He received the award from BBC TV Countryfile presenter Adam Henson alongside restaurant manager Sam Noar before an audience of 500 at Cheltenham Racecourse on Monday, July 7.

Mr Henson said judges had praised the presentation of each course and were also impressed with the friendly and accommodating staff.

Mr Ingram added: "This is a wonderful award to win in the Cotswolds, one of the UK’s finest tourist locations, but you ain’t seen nothing yet.

"I have great plans for the future of food at Dormy. I’ve just taken delivery of an amazing Bertha charcoal oven that will enable us to cook steaks to perfection.

"I am also developing a whole new range of dishes for our restaurant and bar menus. For instance, you have to try my Rioja risotto with braised octopus and sea bass. I want to knock everyone’s socks off with our food."

The Garden Room is open Tuesday to Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes and bookings can be made at dormyhouse.co.uk or on 01386 852711.
