Evesham Journal: (8041883) (8041883)

AN escaped prisoner convicted of wounding with connections to Worcester is being sought by police.

Gwent Police is appealing for information to help locate 34 year-old Scott Johnson who failed to return to HMP Prescoed yesterday (Tuesday, July 8), having been on day release.

Johnson was convicted of wounding and false imprisonment at Birmingham Crown Court in 2011 and sentenced to 10 years prison. He is not a registered sex offender.

He is described as being white, of medium build, 5 feet 9 inches tall with blue eyes and a shaved head. He has contacts in the Worcester area.

Gwent Police has activated its operational plan with the aim of locating him and is working with colleagues from other police force areas

It is believed there may be a potential risk to the public due to the fact that he is no longer in the custody of the prison service.

If anyone sees him or knows of his whereabouts they are advised not to approach him but to call police on 01633 838111 quoting log 256 08/07/14.
