TWO former Royal Marines will be putting fitness fans through their paces as part of a new class in the Vale countryside.

Tom Albutt and Ben Barnett, who have experienced the gruelling physical commando training of the Royal Marines first-hand, now work as personal trainers.

But the pair are recruiting people who want to push themselves further into their AB Fitness classes for an hour of fast paced, challenging activity in a countryside setting each weekend.

Mr Albutt said: "We know by spending an hour with us at a weekend, our recruits will feel they have been pushed into tough physical work and will end up tired but very pleased with themselves for making the effort.

"Our demanding commando-style activities include cross-country running, body-weight exercises, some lifting and pushing of sandbags, logs and tractor tyres, and getting wet and muddy.

"We work at a pace, to keep heart-rates high with our recruits burning off calories whilst improving their strength and general fitness levels."

Mr Barnett added: ""he sessions are a fun way towards fitness without being stuck in the confines of a gym or pounding the miles on boring roads. People who have a basic level of fitness and who want to progress to higher things would gain most from the classes, although as fitness professionals we can find activities to suit anyone."

The classes take place in the countryside near Broadway.
