A NEW 42,000-panel solar farm in Willersey which held a successful open day for the public is holding a dedicated community day later this month.

Belectric UK, opened up its solar farm to the public on July 4 and gave tours to the local community and schools to educate visitors about solar farms, solar energy and how home-grown solar energy can benefit local communities.

The open day follows the launch of a new initiative where residents can now invest and share in the financial, environmental and social benefits of solar power with Belectric's new community benefit energy company, Big60Million Ltd.

The new company will allow people to invest in solar power by buying community energy solar bonds which are being piloted at the Willersey Solar Farm.

Residents can get another chance to visit Willersey Solar Farm and ask any questions they may have about the community bond launch on Saturday, July 26 from 11am to 5pm.

Toddington Harper CEO said: “Willersey Solar Farm is an exceptional project, and in our view, sets a new bar for how we feel solar farms should be developed and implemented.

"It is our first Big60Million community project, and we are looking forward to the opportunity of developing additional Big60Million projects to benefit more communities”.
