EXPERTS gathered in Evesham to offer advise and a helping hand at the town's first Repair Cafe.

Held at imaGine in the Market Square the event on Saturday, July 12, was hailed a great success as people came along to seek advise on a variety of issues.

The event was organised by Robin Walker, chairman of the Transition Evesham Vale, and Tony Piper, also of the group.

They are now hoping the event will become a regular one.

Businesses and people lent advise including, Plan B Computers, the Malvern Hills Repair Cafe Electrical and Electronics, John Perkins Printers, Billy Mack Carpentry & Furniture, Lola Omowole Lotus Fit Seamstress, Maggie Strong Sewing/Crochet, Dave Batley Mechanical Engineer and Mr Walker, who also provided his knowledge on bicycle repairs

Amongst those who brought items for repair was local musician Dutch Lewis of ‘The Dutch Lewis Broadband’ who was delighted to have his ‘ghetto blaster’ repaired.

Having owned it for many years he said: "I feared I would have to throw it away but Dean and Eddie have done a splendid job’ and Christine Evans who came along with granddaughter Thea Andrew ‘was so happy’ to get her garden loppers repaired ‘instead of having to throw them away."

The next Repair Cafe will take place on Saturday, September 13, between 10 am and 2pm.
