THE family of a man suffering with Alzheimer's will be holding a fundraiser in his honour this weekend.

Freddy Brown, who is from Rous Lench, was diagnosed with the disease in 2007.

The 77-year-old former chairman of forklift truck maker Translift Bendi, now lives in a Worcester care home after becoming unable to look after himself.

Now his family are trying to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society in support of their work.

His granddaughter Hannah Malins said they would be holding a fun day in the village on Saturday (July 26).

It will take place at Ferndown Woodlands, near Evesham, from 11am until 4pm and there will be a woodland tour, bouncy castle, face painting, music, segways, a barbecue, stalls and crazy golf.

She said: "My grandpa is like a father to me, he has been there and supported me, taught me to run rather than walk to get things done.

"It is heart breaking seeing him on his bad days. He would be so proud of me for fundraising, so if I can help even 10 people that would make me extremely happy.

"We would love to raise as much as we can for the society as we're now becoming to understand this horrid disease and how much the money raised can help and support patients, family and friends."

The event will also donate some money to the Clent Ward at New Haven Unit at the Princess of Wales hospital in Bromsgrove to help with occupying and helping patients who are suffering with this disease and they are hoping to raise £10,000 altogether.
