THIS year’s Kidderminster Arts Festival (KAF) will provide many opportunities for children to get involved.

Blunderbus children’s theatre group will be presenting a blend of live music, puppets, high energy storytelling and fun for all the family at Kidderminster Town Hall.

Taking place on Saturday, August 16, their production, Dotty the Dragon, is a fairytale adventure suitable for children aged between three and seven. The show starts at 1pm and costs £4.

Also on August 16, the streets will be full of the sounds of local talent as well as strange characters wondering about.

Musical comedian Trundlehonk will be roaming around the town centre with his horn between 11am and 1.30pm, and Sir Foxley, an eccentric conjuror, is riding his Penny-Farthing between 11.30am and 2pm.

Budding musicians will be able to step up to the mic on the Attention Seekers stage between 11am and 3pm.

Isla St Clair, star of the Generation Game will also be making an appearance at KAF on August 19, teaming up with film maker Patrick King to bring a new show, Eyes Front, to the town.

The show, starting at 7.30pm at The New Meeting House Unitarian Church, is using music and rare archive film footage to look at how those on the battlefield and those left at home used music to help them through the First World War.

On Saturday, August 23, soul, motown and disco group, Reunited, will be making a special appearance at Kidderminster Harriers Social Club at 8pm.

Loz Samuels, arts and play development officer for Wyre Forest District Council, said: “It’s fantastic to discover new artists each year, there’s so much talent about.

“We are still looking for a couple more acts for our Attention Seekers stage on August 16 and there’s a little space left at the Contemporary Makers Fair so get in touch if you are thinking of getting involved before it’s too late.

“There’s a great mix this year, something for all generations, I’m really looking forward to it.”
