IT will be all change at two Evesham schools in September when they become one and welcome a new leader.
Evesham High School and Simon de Montfort Middle School have been given the final go ahead to merge and will re-open in September as The De Montfort School.
They will also be under the leadership of new headteacher Guy Nichols, who is taking over from Caroline Browne. He is coming from Bexleyheath Academy in Kent and will begin his role at the start of the new school year.
Officially the merger will see the closure of the middle school and the expansion of age range at the new high school to include 10 to 18-year-olds as of September 1.
The new merged single school will remain on their current sites and use the same buildings already used by Simon de Montfort Middle School and Evesham High School.
The combining of the two facilities, which have been operating as a confederation, will ultimately save the Department for Education £42,000 per year.
Speaking about the merger previously Mrs Browne, who first joined the high school as headteacher in 2007, said: "It's very exciting. It cements what we done and next year the school can celebrate that a little better with the merger and the new name."
