POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was robbed in Evesham.

The 76-year-old victim had left Wetherspoons with her partner yesterday (Tuesday) between 10.15pm and 10.25pm when they approached the junction with Leicester Grove and a man snatched her handbag.

The stolen handbag was black, contained about £30 in cash, credit cards and house keys. A mauve coloured umbrella and a yellow medical slip were also in the bag.

PC Tracy Schofield said: “Thankfully the victim was not injured during this incident, but she was left very shaken. We are eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the robbery.

We also ask for the public to look out for the handbag and its contents, which may help with our enquiries.”
