IT'S Chico time for an Evesham fundraising campaign after it received a message of support from the former X Factor star.

The No Limits campaign, which seeks to raise money for disabled play equipment, was backed by the singer Chico Slimani in a video posted to the group's Facebook page on Monday (July 21).

In the recorded message the singer, who rose to fame in 2005, praises the work of the No Limits campaign, founded by mum Lucy Bickerstaff.

He says: "I am thinking about you, no limits, what an amazing, amazing cause.

"What I would say is we are limit less beings but the only limit we have is the one we put on ourselves but the children are limit less.

"So go out there and have a wonderful day. I am sorry I can't be with you but hey, what time is it, it's no limits time. It's Chico time. I love you."

Mrs Bickerstaff launched the campaign in the hope of raising a total of £10,000 for specialist disabled play equipment in the Crown Meadow play area in Evesham.

Since May she has been busy organising fundraising events and has so far got £1,300 towards her target.

Now she is seeking the help of celebrities to further her cause.

She said: "I met Chico a few years ago at Text Factor in Worcester. Then I sent him a message to see if he remembered me and he said he did.

"I told him about the campaign and asked if he would send a message of support, I didn't think he would, but you have to ask.

"It was really nice of him to do that from Ibiza. It gets people talking about it as well."

Now Mrs Bickerstaff is hoping other celebrities will also offer their support.

She added: "I have also asked Toby Anstis. And I asked Toyah Wilcox if she would judge the children's got talent competition at the upcoming event."

The next fundraisers taking place include the disco at the Bengeworth Club on Friday, August 1, between 7.30pm and 11.30pm.

Tickets for this event can be bought for £10 from Lucy on 01386 244864.

A Family Fun Day will also be held in aid of the campaign at Hampton Ferry on Tuesday, August 19, where there will be the Kids Got Talent event.
