MANAGER Carl Heeley has made a personal plea to Worcester City fans to help the club raise funds by buying season tickets.

The Blue and Whites have already sold more than 250 for the 2014-15 campaign but are still short of the £50,000 generated last summer after selling 500 season tickets at £100 each.

Although around two-thirds of this year’s sales are full price, the majority of those are concessions at £150.

However, sales have seen a marked improvement since moving to Aggborough as the club sold just 200 in their final season at St George’s Lane, nearly half of which were £20 junior tickets.

Heeley is now calling on supporters to continue the upward trend before the early bird discount ends on July 31.

The City boss said: “We are really encouraged by the season ticket sales to date, but with the absence of any rich benefactor at Worcester City, it is very reliant upon our fantastic supporter base to continue to back us in anyway they possibly can.

“I would like to personally ask that if you have not done so yet, please contact the club and purchase your season ticket at the earliest opportunity as this will enable us to have a fighting chance of competing in what will again be a very competitive league this season.

“We have managed to retain the core of last season’s squad and compliment that with some quality, experienced additions which will be invaluable when the campaign gets under way.

“We are striving to give you a committed and exciting team to be proud of and, with your help, this will be achieved.”

Director Mike Davis said: “For a club in its second season away from its home town, 250 is pretty good.

“But let’s not be complacent. Unless we can add at least another 250 supporters paying at the turnstiles each home game, we won’t even achieve last season’s average attendance of 524.

“We need average gates in excess of 600, ideally 700, then we could be looking at much brighter prospects on the pitch.”

Season tickets before July 31 are £210 for adults and £150 concessions, rising to £236 and £168. There is also the £100 ticket covering 10 games.
