THE Almonry Heritage Centre is marking the start of a busy summer as it unveils an exhibition commemorating the First World War.

The exhibition, which has been put together by Jeff King and featured in the Journal, honours the fallen of the Great War on the centenary of Britain's entry into the conflict.

Entitled We Will Remember Them, the exhibition looks at ways we remember the war dead, through poppies, poetry, memorials and ceremonies.

A special launch day is being held at the Almonry on Saturday, August 9, from 11 am, when Mr King will be able to meet with people at the centre to talk about the displays and what the symbolism means.

Also taking place this summer is the children’s activity, which centres around the monks of Evesham Abbey this year.

Find out with the themed trail and activity packs for £1 each.

These summer activities run until September 2 and children under 11 go free.

Later this year the Almonry will be welcoming a select few through its doors after dark as part of a fundraising event.

It will be held on Friday, September 26, and tickets, costing £5, include a glass of wine and go towards the Great Big Almonry Project.
