Wychavon Chair Cllr Lynne Duffy supports Evesham's local theatre

First published in News

THE Evesham Arts Centre will be backed this year by the chairman of Wychavon District Council, Lynne Duffy.

The volunteer run centre is a purpose built 300 seat theatre on the Prince Henry’s School site.

As well as providing a venue for performances by local groups such as Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society's Sweeney Todd and fundraising events for local causes like the Evesham Bell Tower Appeal, it is now playing host to big-name acts like Lee Evans, Alan Carr, Marcus Brigstocke and Des O’Connor.

Cllr Duffy recently attended local dance school Vale Dance’s summer showcase, Let’s Dance and plans to support future events including Phoenix Theatre Groups production of Fame, Offenham Floral Arts’ Presidents Day, and the Vienna Festival Ballet’s Christmas performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

Neal Cartwright, the Arts Centre publicity volunteer, said: "It’s great to have councillor Duffy’s recognition and support.

"We're working to build on our role as a community venue, to offer local people good quality arts and entertainment on their doorstep and to bring fresh audiences into the town as well.

"I'm sure Councillor Duffy’s involvement will be a big boost."

The Arts Centre's new season programme has just been released.

Full details of all forthcoming events can be found at eveshamartscentre.co.uk.
