THE fifth annual charity Gala Day took place at Hampton Ferry in Evesham this weekend marking 85 years since the Raphael family first arrived.
In 1929 Eileen and Ernie Huxley, the mother and father of current owner Diana Raphael, arrived and the ferry has been in the family ever since.
To mark the anniversary they hosted the event, which raised around £1,000 for good causes.
This celebratory event kicked off with the 5k Charity Scenic 5 Race, which was started by Mayor of Evesham councillor Charlie Homer.
He then officially opened the show, where charities lined up alongside stalls, activity stands and the Evesham White Watch fire crew.
Evesham Hospital Radio Roadshow presented the arena events, including a first for W Factor under 14’s 2014 winner Aimee Fae who sang Gershwins Summertime accompanied by Avonbank Brass Training Band.
There was a dance performance from the Mezzo’s along with a high energy Zumba demonstration and a Novelty Dog Show organised by the Relay for Life team.
The afternoon was rounded off with the Fire Engine’s alarm heralding the arrival of Mrs Raphael and her son Robbie Raphael to Happy Birthday and a presentation of the birthday cake.
She said: "This is completely unexpected but what a lovely surprise."
