Open Garden event raised funds for appeal

HUNDREDS of pounds was raised by two Evesham sisters when they opened up one of the town's hidden gems.

Sue Ablett, chairman of the Bell Tower Appeal Committee, said: "One of the great joys of involvement with the Bell Tower Appeal is that it has enabled me to meet people and visit places in Evesham that I would never have come across.

"Harrells Hardy Plants, off Coxlea Close, is one of those places, an absolute gem. When sisters Kate Philips and Liz Nicklin got in touch and offered to hold their annual Open Garden for the Bell Tower Appeal, this was the perfect chance for a visit."

Ms Philips said: "We can’t think of a more worthy cause. As daughters of Evesham, born and bred, we are keen to do our bit to help repair our iconic Bell Tower."

The afternoon raised £407.75.
