THE first lucky winner of the Evesham Heritage Loyalty scheme was announced this week as Lee Fisher.

On Tuesday all the completed cards were collected and Evesham's Mayor, Charlie Homer, had the honour of drawing the three prize winners.

First prize was £25, which was won by Lee Fisher.

There was also a hamper from BONK won by Tony Piper and a hamper from Evesham Greengrocers Fruit and Veg in Bridge Street, which went to Anne Craghill.

Cllr Homer said: "It’s great to see local business’s working together for the good of Evesham. No one is profiteering from this, and no tax-payers money has been spent.

"The traders are paying for this themselves. It’s now down to all of us to support the town, fill in the cards and get involved. It’s just a bit of fun and shows our support for Evesham."

The announcement comes six weeks after the scheme was launched by independent traders in Evesham.

The scheme was the idea of the group Real Evesham, which was formed by traders struggling during the delays to the bridge work.

Kim Dunn, chairman of Real Evesham, said she was delighted with how the scheme was going.

"You’ve got to have a laugh and a bit of fun," she said. "We all love this town, let’s all help make it as good as we can."
