THE 16th Retail Challenge Cup match will take place in Evesham this Sunday in aid of St Richard's Hospice.

Football teams from Tesco and Morrisons will go head to head in the annual face off, which will kick off at the Evesham United Jubilee Stadium at 5pm.

Mark Payne, who organises the event, first put the match on in 1998 in support of the hospice, where his mother was cared for in 1997 before losing her battle with breast cancer.

And this year Mr Payne is hoping to beat their fundraising total of just over £1,000 as they have lots of events taking place as well as special guest Cheltenham Town footballer Adam Powell to present to the cup.

"We have got lots of things going on this year so we are hoping to get more than the £1,000 we have raised the last few years," he said.

"There will be a bouncy castle, a tombola, raffle tickets and ice cream van. There are lots of prizes available, including a family Merlin pass for theme parks."

And Tesco will be hoping to maintain the cup after beating Morrisons 4-3 last year.

"We won the last four years," said Mr Payne, who works for Tesco. "But it's not all about winning, its mainly about raising money for St Richard's Hospice."

Tickets are available on the door on the night and will cost £2 for adults and £1 for children and pensioners.
