COACH John Snape says Worcester City need to be more clinical in front of goal if they are to climb the Vanarama Conference North table.

The Blue and Whites drew 0-0 at Oxford City on Tuesday, despite playing against 10 men for the last 17 minutes after Alesandro-Adrian Santiago was sent off.

Mike Symons also had an effort ruled out in the first-half by an offside flag, while Daniel Nti was denied by keeper Mark Scott.

Snape said: “It’s been a reasonable start.

“We were disappointed not to have taken all three points on Saturday against Stalybridge and also not to score against Oxford when they were down to 10 men.

“Putting that ball in the net is key to us being in the top half of the table this year.

“I thought for the last 10 to 15 minutes we were well on top.

“We made the extra man work but we just couldn’t find that finishing touch, which is probably our biggest worry after scoring two on Saturday.

“I think we probably made more chances in the game and haven’t been able to stick them in the back of the net.”

Snape added: “I thought we started the game quite positively but we didn’t really make any chances in the first 10 minutes.

“As the game opened out, Oxford came into it. We limited them to a couple of chances but they looked decent and the two wide players caused us trouble.

“I think we got to grips with that towards the start of the second-half.

“We kept a clean sheet and I thought the back four and keeper were magnificent.”
