A VALE artist is delighted to be showcasing a collection of her work inspired by her love of maps.

Bridget Steel-Jessop’s passion for embroidery and historical research work naturally together as she creates framed embroidered pictures and accessories.

"I learnt to sew as a child, absorbing my mother’s love of fabric and thread," she said.

"This love has remained with me and life now has afforded the opportunity to bring this joy into beautiful embroidered maps, each one capturing the essence of a time and place whilst exploring the personal journeys and recollections of the people associated with them."

Working from her studio in Evesham, she also designs accessories, up cycling maps to create bags, treasure chests and purses using her own process of strengthening paper to make a usable and practical fabric.

A collection of her work is now on display at Three Little Pigs in Pershore until September 20 as part of the shops Artist Showcase programme.

Fiona Abbott, proprietor of Three Little Pigs, said: "Bridget’s work is a real treat. Her use of maps is inspired and her embroidery is simply incredible."
