KEEN local gardeners have provided a welcome £1,000 boost to a lifesaving local charity.
Bretforton Garden Club once again hosted its popular Open Gardens event back in June and members were delighted with its success, as people flocked from as far afield as Stratford and Oxford to enjoy 11 picturesque gardens, including the stunning Bretforton Manor.
Proceeds from the event have since been totted up and club members were delighted to hand over a cheque for £1,000 to Midlands Air Ambulance.
Jenny Ashman, a volunteer from the Air Ambulance, received the cheque. She said: “I would like to give my most sincere thanks for this most generous gift.
"It is because of people like you that we can keep flying and provide the essential medical service that is available to everyone.”
A donation of £500 was also made to Bretforton First School for its eco gardens project.
Bretforton Garden Club provides the opportunity for people to learn about a variety of gardening topics in a friendly environment and enjoy interesting days out.
