AFTER a highly successful inaugural event last year, Bretforton Show is returning to the magnificent grounds of Bretforton Manor near Evesham on Saturday September, 13.

And with the big day fast approaching, organisers are looking for people to take part.

Promising to be even bigger and better than last year, the centrepiece of the show will be the produce competition.

There are double the numbers of cups and trophies to be won this year, with many categories to choose from for everything from flowers, vegetables and fruit to floral art, wine, poultry, cookery, handicrafts and photography.

There will also be several opportunities for children to compete.

Mark Chambers of Bretforton Manor, speaking on behalf of the show organisers, said “The Vale of Evesham is world-renowned for its produce and its market gardeners, but we were amazed at the quantity and quality of last year’s entries.

"We’re hoping that even more people will take part this year in what is a showcase for local talent, as well as a great afternoon out.”

Other attractions at the show will include performances by Bretforton Silver Band, demonstrations, craft stalls, children’s activities, face painting and pony rides, vintage motorbikes, refreshments, a real ale tent from The Fleece Inn, and a chance to look around the stunning gardens of Bretforton Manor, a manor house dating back to the 1600s, which are not usually open to the public.

More information, together with a list of competition classes and an entry form, can be found on the show’s website, bretfortonshow.co.uk, on the Bretforton Show Facebook page facebook.com/BretfortonShow and on Twitter at twitter.com/BretShow. The closing date for entries is September 6.
