THE story of the brave villagers who fought for their country during the First World War is being told in a new book.

Villagers in Ebrington, near Chipping Campden, are publishing a new book entitled 'He longed for a drink of the cool water from the Long Well', telling the stories of the men from the village who served 100 years ago.

An official book launch is taking place at Ebrington Village Hall from 11am until 4.30pm on Saturday, August 30.

The launch will be carried out at noon by Lt Col (Retd) Robert Dixon, chairman of trustees of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum.

The event will also include an exhibition highlighting some of the stories told in the book.

Ebrington resident, Daphne Law, said: "We look forward to seeing as many people as possible and hope that anyone with connections with Ebrington will put the date in their diaries and come along on the day."
